02 - The Night
The night is not just the absence of day. It is a time and space with its own potential.
The night traps us, frees us.
As night arrives, our melatonin production increases, while cortisol decreases, and fatigue begins to set in.
Noise and light decrease, leaving us alone with ourselves.
The night can be:
beautiful,
distressing,
joyful,
short,
long.
The night is mysterious.
It is the frontier to a new world, for hope, a different day, a beginning, a change. It is the threshold of the possible.
Conversely, the night can be a fear, the fear of what awaits us. It can also be the fear of never finding again what we left behind during the day.
During the night, writing, reading, listening to music, reflecting, are not the same activities as they are during the day.
This doesn't mean not to sleep.
"The future belongs to those who get up early." I would say that the future belongs to those who find balance between day and night.
Thus, find balance.
